ABOUT US
Sydney based Reservoir Capital Partners (“RCP”) was launched in 2022 by industry veteran Rob Lance post his return from 25 years in Hong Kong where he held senior roles in banking and alternatives asset management.
RCP at its core works with corporate clients seeking equity and / or debt capital solutions and raising capital for alternatives fund managers.
The management team come from senior banking and alternatives asset management roles with their experiences predominantly based in Asian centres.
This is RCP’s key differentiator.
The team combined have 90+ years serving Asia Pacific capital markets building close relationships based on trust with the largest Sovereign wealth and Pension fund schemes through to Asia’s families, family offices and private wealth groups.
RCP works with clients to structure and source the right liquidity pools that match their requirements across Asia Pacific.

RCP works with clients across the capital structure from debt capital solutions for funding / expansion through to companies seeking strong equity stakeholders to support their growth ambitions.

Having a deep understanding of their strategies and deal size allows us to zero in on introducing our clients to the right potential equity / debt provider.
Our experience across Private Equity, Venture Capital, Private Debt and Real Assets markets places RCP in a strong position to help structure and land on positive outcomes with our clients.
RCP is currently working with capital partners on solutions for our clients across invoice financing, a senior secured debt facility , equity / debt mix for development & construction pipelines (accommodation and renewables) and early-stage equity / debt for growth companies.

With over 30 years of service in Asia Pacific capital markets, Rob Lance has a unique combination of deep experience across both banking and alternatives asset management.
Rob began his career in 1985 on the trading floors of the Australian Stock Exchange and Sydney Futures Exchange before leaving in 1995 to launch a joint venture between Deutsche Bank and K&N Kenanga in Malaysia.
In 1997 Rob moved to Hong Kong with Deutsche to build their Equity Derivatives group before joining Lehman Brothers in 2003 where he served as Head of Asian Equities then Co-Head of the Asia Pacific Equities Division.
In 2006 Rob launched Dragon Back Capital, the multi-strategy hedge fund, as co-founder and CEO. There he built a 20 person operation managing over USD 600 million. Then in 2010 opened the firm’s infrastructure to new and existing managers.
Rob returned to Sydney in 2013 to join Ascalon Capital (the boutique asset management arm of BT Investment Management) as Head of Australia. In 2016 joined Sydney-based structured credit manager, Blue Quay Investments, as a Partner and lead business development.
Rob returned to Hong Kong in 2018 to set up the asset management division of financial group MCM Partners as CEO.
In 2022 Rob launched Reservoir Capital Partners and is consulting to various groups across renewables, private credit, real assets and fintech and now based back in Sydney.
Rob is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Companies Directors (GAICD).

DAVID WALTER

David has over 35 years experience working in Investment Banking, Hedge Funds, Private Credit and Fund of Hedge Funds focusing on Asian Markets, living in Hong Kong, London, Singapore and Tokyo.
Having both managed and allocated to regional hedge fund and private strategies as well as worked with, and marketed to, institutional allocators from around the globe, his approach combines a comprehensive and detailed understanding of the needs and nuances of the due diligence process as well as the frameworks and structures various investors work within.
David has held various senior roles in the region:

Head of Client Solutions at Double Haven Capital, an Asian focused credit manager focusing on public, distressed and private markets.

Head of Research for PAAMCO Asia in Singapore, a $20bn+ US Fund of Funds allocating across strategies in the region and working with large Global institutional clients.

Head of Research for KBC Alpha, a regional Fund of Funds, building to nearly $3bn AUM and winning mandates from major North American pensions finds as well as regional distribution channels.
Prior to this, David set up and managed two Japan focused hedge funds after an investment banking career in London and Tokyo which had focused on equities, warrants and convertible bonds.
David has a long track record of working commercially and globally with consultants and a wide spectrum of institutional investors, distributors, private banks and family offices. He has worked with industry bodies, sitting on the Singapore Exco for AIMA for over ten years and been a regular speaker for the SBAI, and at various other conferences and educational forums.
David holds a Master of Arts degree from the Oxford University.

Matt most recently was the Head of Asset Finance, Asia for KPMG. He joined KPMG in 2021 to spearhead the development of a formal Advisory practice to capture the significant opportunities available in the asset finance market with a focus on aviation - Included was airline restructuring, aircraft lessor recapitalisations and restructurings, secured loan portfolio sales and aircraft portfolio financing transactions.
He has more than 20 years’ experience in banking focusing on transportation finance / leasing in Asia. He was directly involved in the establishment and management of several 3rd party managed debt / equity funds in the transportation finance / leasing sectors (incl. Investec Bank group where he was the Head of Aviation Finance, Asia until early 2020).
Matt has a strong background in structured asset finance across various asset classes (aviation, shipping, rail, infrastructure, etc.) and multiple jurisdictions (US, EU, ASPAC). Excellent corporate & capital structuring ability, proven business development and execution skills within asset finance / leasing sectors.
Additionally, Matt has a high degree technical knowledge managing mandates across receivables finance, export credit finance, secured lending, cross border leasing, structured debt, tax-based funding and insurance backed structures.
He has 15+ years of portfolio management experience within debt and equity fund platforms running transportation assets. He has also raised both debt and equity capital in the asset finance and leasing sectors (incl. institutional asset management / private equity).
Matt holds a Bachelor of Commerce with majors in Accounting and Management from the University of Tasmania.
Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) qualified with CPA Australia.
Member of the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading.
